Even as the World Sinks Around Us
When I first conceived of this piece way back in the Summer of 2008, I thought it was primarily about fear of the unknown. The working title throughout construction was Ship of Fools, suggesting that the inhabitants of the tiny vessel are reaping the rewards of their own poor choices. Upon completion of the piece and after some reflection I began to feel that the group of figures are in fact slightly heroic in their defiance of obviously horrible odds. Or maybe they are dumb. Either way, you have to admire their resolve to stick together, even as the world sinks around them.
This piece was finished in March 2012 and is part of the ongoing series of miniature diorama sculptures.
